New to Curling?

  

Welcome to the Mankato Curling Club!  We offer many ways for new curlers to get involved and join in on the fun of curling.

  

• The first place to start is with a Learn to Curl Class.

• Join a "Mini" Beginner League.  The Beginner League is for beginning curlers and runs for three weeks.  You should take a "Learn to Curl" class prior to joining this league but if unable to do so, we will offer basic instruction one hour before the first night.  Instructors will be on the ice to offer pointers and assistance with delivery, strategy, rules, and more!  Current offerings will be listed in the "Events" tab.  Sign up as a team or as an individual.

• Then head over to our League Page to sign up for a league that works for you.  Our Regular Season starts the first week of January and runs for 12-13 weeks.

• • We also offer an Early League in the Fall starting in November.  This league runs for six weeks.

• There are also curling tournaments, called bonspiels, offered throughout the year, for curlers of all skill levels.

Learn to Curl!

 

Want to learn how to curl?  You have come to the right place!  The Mankato Curling Club offers Learn-to-Curl classes throughout the year.  These one-time classes provide basic instruction for beginners who have never curled before or for those looking for a refresher course.

Whether you are just curious and want to give curling a shot, are looking for a fun evening out, or want to learn the basics to prepare you for League play and beyond, this is the place to start!

  

What to Expect

A Learn-to-Curl class will provide instruction on the basics of curling.  By the end of the class you will know what it means to throw an inturn draw to the button – and you may even be able to do it!  A typical class will consist of the following:

• 20 minutes learning the basic rules of play
• 40 minutes of on-ice instruction learning how to deliver a stone
• 60 minutes of play time

  

What to Bring

All equipment will be provided by the curling club.  You only need to bring the following:

• A clean pair of tennis shoes. Please carry these into the club and change once you get here.
• Warm, flexible clothing. The arena is approximately 40 degrees, so dress warm. You may want to bring a pair of gloves and a hat.
• You may bring your own food and beverages to enjoy after the class!

  

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of a Learn-to-Curl class is $20.00 per person.

  

When Is The Class?

 

The following opportunities are available through the Mankato Curling Club:

• November 10th, 2023 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm
• November 12th, 2023 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm
• November 19th, 2023 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm
• November 25th, 2023 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

 After taking a Learn-to-Curl class we encourage all to sign up for the Beginner League. Cost is $40 per person

• Friday nights 6:30 - 8:30pm
• December 1, December 8, and December 15
